First things first, there is no beauty elixir that can keep your skin look young forever. But there are certainly some ways that can help you slow down the process of aging and keep your skin look younger for longer.

Good skin begins with good habits.

The health and beauty of your skin lies in small yet significant every day habits that help protect and nourish your skin. From eating more greens to sleeping on time, our skin is a sum total of our everyday habits that can make or break your skin-game.

The health of your skin depends on how much you take care of it. And by taking care we don’t filling your beauty cabinet with the most expensive night creams, moisturizers and serums.

Healthy, glowing skin starts with healthy habits. These good skin habits pay big dividends in the long run by slowing down skin aging and keeping your skin look young and fresh.

Whats more?

You don’t need to do bring in big changes to accommodate these habits in your lifestyle. All you need to do is think and work consciously for the health of your skin. That’s it!

By committing to tried and tested healthy habits, you can experience a huge change is the look and feel of your skin. Remember, it’s never too late to start. When the pay off is this huge, it makes so much sense to invest in your skin on an everyday basis.

Here are the habits that will transform your skin from dull to dazzling and make you look younger by years:

Habit 1# Veggies – healthy skin in every bite

You are what you eat! Fresh, green and healthy vegetables are the secret ingredients for younger skin.

It cannot get easier than this – one bite at a time to youthful skin. In fact, the more greens you eat, the younger your look.

Eating veggies everyday helps in boosting the collagen, a major component of your skin, which helps maintain the elasticity of your skin. As you age, the natural production of collagen in our bodies drops.

Including more veggies in your diet can help the body produce adequate amount of collagen.

Vegetables contain high concentrations of polyphenols, which is an anti-oxidant that saves your skin from environmental damage.

Vegetables are also one of the rich sources of vitamin C, which helps in boosting skin health.

Result: Supple hydrated skin.

Habit 2# Sleep – the magical skin elixir

We often underestimate the benefits of a good night’s sleep. Thanks to the increased screen time, it has become the most overlooked aspect of our lifestyle.

It is a vital boost for both body and brain. Sleep deprivation or erratic sleep timings can prove to be detrimental to your skin’s health.

Sleep deprivation doesn’t only increase the cortisol levels (stress hormone) in the body but also give dark circles and puffy eyes.

A good deep sleep produces happy hormones, enhances flow of blood and aids in improved production of estrogen and progesterone.

Result: Reduced dark circles and stress lines

Habit 3# Stay Active – the shortcut to glowing skin

According to health experts all over the world, sitting is the biggest malady of modern times.

Getting off the couch is important to keep yourself active whole day.

Research has shown that exercising may turn around sagging and other forms of skin aging and help keep your skin young.

Here are some ways to pack in more physically active hours in your day:- Do at least 20 minutes of exercise daily.

You can also try a combination of exercises - yoga, aerobics, walking, running or strength training.

An easy way to sit less and move more is to get up and make your own coffee, or go to a colleague’s desk instead of calling on intercom, or get your own water, etc .

Make sure that you take a break of five minutes every half hour of sitting.

Result: You feel happy, better flow of blood, increased oxygen supply, toned body and strengthened muscles.

Habit 4# Right posture

What’s in a good posture?

We say, skin that defies aging.

Research has shown that bad posture weakens the muscle and bones as well as wreaks havoc on your mood.

It is very important to sit, work, sleep and do things in a right posture to add more youthful years to your life and skin.

The right posture helps boost the flow of blood and oxygen in our body with the help of proper alignment of the organs.

When your vital organs are compressed due to a bad posture, the blood circulation is poor and these organs do not work as well as they should.

Simple stretches are the best to relieve muscle tension or any stiffness.

Start stretching your body after every 2 hours and you will feel the differences.

Result: Better circulation, muscle strength and energy.

Habit 5# Don’t drink coffee but you can apply it

It helps to start the day with extra kick but it has a dehydrating effect on the body, strains the teeth, causes insomnia and also acts as a hindrance in the absorption of nutrients.

Replace your coffee with Herbal Teas because they help in the better absorption of nutrients, reduce cholesterol levels, calm the body and keep you happy.

If you cannot ditch your coffee then don't have it more than a cup per day and avoid adding sugar to it.

However, topical application has an opposite effect on the skin, it can help in reducing inflammation, dark circles and cellulite.

Result: The antioxidants work better when applied, and leave you with brighter looking skin.
